(Bonsal, N.C., August 11, 2025) – New Hope Valley Railway (NHVR) will host the Thomas & Friends in the Garden event on Saturday, Sept. 13 and Sunday, Sept.14, 2025. The event will feature Thomas the Tank Engine™ and his friends operating on NHVR’s G-scale Garden Railroad, along with full-size train rides on a diesel locomotive.
Visitors can watch Thomas and his friends on the G-scale model railroad. The miniature trains will travel along more than 1,000 feet of track, passing through tunnels, bridges, and landscaped areas.
Children will also have the opportunity to operate a Thomas-themed train on a kid-friendly miniature track.
“Whether you’re a lifelong Thomas fan or new to the rails, this event is the perfect way to unplug, slow down, and enjoy the Triangle’s Train” said Jim Whitten, one of the many dedicated member volunteers who keep NHVR operating smoothly. “It’s a great way for families to spend quality time together.”

Full-size train ride tickets are priced between $11 and $14. Departure times are as follows:
- Saturday, September 13: 10:30 a.m., 12 p.m., 1:30 p.m.
- Sunday, September 14: 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m.
A train ride ticket is not required to view the Thomas & Friends model trains, which will run for one hour before, during, and 30 minutes after each full-size train ride.
